3 of the Best Apps to Take Notes

The Best Apps to Take Notes on the iPhone is a question that has puzzled many an expert for quite sometime. There are so many apps that claim to be the best, and most of them have been downloaded by millions over the past few years. This makes it hard for a person to decide which one is actually the best. I recently purchased an iPhone, and I tried out some different apps that were available. The majority of them offered similar functionality: ability to take notes, and add files to be stored in a small external folder. The one differentiating factor that differentiated some of these apps from the best was the ability to take notes with the camera, and edit them later.3 of the Best Apps to Take Notes

Synchronization Tool

The first three apps were all aiming for the same functionality. One was trying to be like a notebook by offering a cloud-based note taking option, another was trying to be like a virtual assistant by offering a synchronization tool between the phone and a personal computer (in this case, a laptop), and the last was trying to be like a shopping list by integrating the phone into a large (and free) database of items. Obviously there were limitations to these apps as far as being cloud-based or having a real-time synchronization, but none of them were complete. The final one, the one that ultimately became the best, provided a completely new way to take notes on the iPhone.

All of the three apps allow us to take simple notes while on the go. The first two apps (written by Appian) allow you to transfer files from your computer to your iPhone, and sync them both. The third app, bought from the makers of the Play Store, allows us to browse the content of a large and very useful play store and purchase things from that store.

 Apps Cost Money to Download

Now here’s the kicker. These apps cost money to download. This price becomes double the moment you add in the cost of syncing files to the cloud. If you don’t have much money to spend on these apps, you’re better off simply saving the money you’d spend on the Play Store itself and buying these apps instead. You’ll find the features they offer far more valuable.

Perhaps one of the most useful features offered by these apps is the ability to use Google Notability. Notability allows you to integrate your Google search results with your notability list, so that whenever you take a note, it’s directly shown in Google. It also allows you to search for any handwritten notes in any language across the globe, no matter where you are. The most useful part is that not only does this work with any language, but it also works with any device (iTunes devices, tablets, laptops, etc).

One  Note

All of these apps let you access all the information you need to take notes on the fly. However, none of them let you keep track of everything. This is where Google Docs comes in handy. You can create a doc, and pretty much anything you want is possible. This makes not only the idea of not having to carry around a bunch of documents, but it makes the idea of using a cloud-based service entirely possible.

One of my favorites is Notes+. This app is actually a spreadsheet app, but it expands upon the idea. With it, you can add photos to your notes and then share everything with the rest of the world. You can even make notes in real time to make sure you aren’t stuck looking at a blank white piece of paper any longer. It’s a very simple app, and it works beautifully.

Fair Note Note Pad

These are three of the best apps to take notes with, but there are many more out there. Of course, you need to take note of what you like, and what you don’t like about the options you have available to you. The key is to keep an open mind, and make recommendations as you find things you like and don’t like. Whether you’re looking for something that is more advanced or more simple and intuitive, there are an array of options out there, and none of them are going anywhere anytime soon.
